Start with the material and its temperature

The 80 GHz products above include solids, liquid-tank and water-level instruments. Their common frequency does not make their antennas, seals or process limits interchangeable. Use the measured surface and the temperature at the instrument connection to narrow the choice.

Bulk-solid silos

MV-RD21S uses a PE lens for ambient-temperature solids. For hot bulk material, review the separate MV-RD21G PTFE-lens configuration. Check the incoming material temperature, fill stream, dust and pile position; an empty-silo echo test alone cannot prove filling performance.

Liquid tanks and open water

MV-RD15 offers distinct distance configurations for liquid tanks; size the version against both the lowest and highest operating surfaces. Heated-liquid duties need their own assembly review, including the MV-RD15G option. For an exposed water-level site, MV-RD12T requires a defined mounting reference as well as a clear beam path.

Include a vessel or bridge drawing, required distance interval, medium, process limits, nozzle or bracket, power supply and PLC or RTU input with the inquiry. Ask for the exact model configuration and verify raw distance, scaled level and alarm response under the operating condition that will be used for acceptance.
