Selecting Hints
Select METRAVON weigh modules for tanks, silos and hoppers by total load, support count, pipe restraint, dynamic forces, mounting and project calibration requirements.
A Weigh Module Is a Mechanical Installation Assembly
A bare load cell measures force; a weigh module also provides a defined way to introduce the vessel load and manage installation movement or restraint. For a tank, silo or hopper, selection begins with vessel dead weight, maximum product weight, number of supports, uneven load distribution, agitation, filling impact, wind or seismic restraint, piping forces and calibration access.
| Project condition | What to establish | Why it changes the selection |
|---|---|---|
| Total service load | Empty vessel, maximum contents, attachments and credible transient loads. | Capacity must be evaluated per support with allowance for unequal sharing and operating loads. |
| Pipes and external connections | Pipe size, direction, flexibility, supports and temperature movement. | External force can shift zero or prevent the vessel load from reaching the modules consistently. |
| Movement and restraint | Thermal expansion, agitation, vibration, uplift, overturning and horizontal forces. | The module arrangement must support weighing while controlling unsafe movement. |
| Calibration and maintenance | Test-weight, material-test or substitution method, jacking points and service clearance. | A system that cannot be loaded and inspected safely is difficult to commission or verify later. |
Commission the Complete Vessel, Not Only the Sensor
- Check that all supports are seated, aligned and sharing load without a module being mechanically bound.
- Confirm that pipes, ladders, platforms, grounding straps and safety restraints do not bypass or preload the weighing system.
- Record unloaded zero, applied test load, loading and unloading response, and support balance when individual channels can be observed.
- Verify the displayed weight and PLC or batch-controller value against the same calibration record.
The inquiry should include a vessel drawing, support layout, dead and live loads, pipe connections, agitation or impact, required indicator or transmitter output, environment and the proposed acceptance method. This information is needed before a specific MV-WM model and matching load cell can be confirmed.
Please fill in the measurement media, the scale, temperature, pressure, installation and output requirements. We will provide model advice and quotations based on the field situation.
