Selecting Hints
Select METRAVON radar instruments for river stage or open-channel flow. Compare level and velocity requirements, mounting and site surveys before requesting a quote.
Specify what the monitoring station must report
A river-stage alarm and an open-channel discharge record require different site information. Establish the reported quantity and its reference before selecting the instrument and logger.
| Required result | Instrument route | Site work to include |
|---|---|---|
| Water level or stage | MV-RD908F, MV-RD908S or MV-RD909 water-level radar | A stable mounting point, distance to low and high water, a surveyed datum and the corresponding logger calculation. |
| Open-channel discharge | MV-RD2480 level and surface-velocity measurement | The channel cross-section, alignment and a field validation of the relationship between surface and mean velocity. |
Include the recorder in the acceptance check
Provide the proposed mounting section, expected water levels, supply and logger or RTU input. Confirm the actual interface and register or signal scaling for the selected instrument. Compare a site reference with the local measurement and the value received by the remote system, including units and timestamp. Test how loss of power or communication is reported so that a missing measurement is distinguishable from a genuine stable water level.
Describe whether the station needs water level or discharge. Include mounting dimensions, expected water levels, channel survey where applicable, power and logger interface.
