Product Details

METRAVON MV-LC0224 is a compact single-point load cell for 5, 10, 20, 30 or 50 kg weighing assemblies. Its 75 mm body requires less mounting length than MV-LC0221. Its nominal sensitivity is 1 mV/V, and both bridge resistance specifications are 1000 +/-50 ohms.

Confirm that the reader accepts this bridge

A scale configured for a 2 mV/V, approximately 350 ohm load cell should not be assumed to accept this sensor unchanged. The reader must supply suitable excitation and accommodate the lower nominal signal per rated load. At 10 V excitation, nominal full-scale output is 10 mV, before the stated +/-0.1 mV/V tolerance and initial zero offset. Recheck span with reference weights after any approved replacement.

The short cable determines where the connection sits

The standard cable listed for the 5-50 kg options is four-core and 0.2 m long. Decide whether the reader or an appropriate terminal point can be located within that route without putting tension on the cable. An exposed splice beside the sensor is not made IP67 merely because the load-cell enclosure has that rating. Request the delivered cable configuration and connection arrangement before the enclosure layout is fixed.

Compact single-point load cell mounting

The drawing gives a 75 mm length, 13.5 mm width and 9.5 mm height, with an M4 attachment detail. Provide space for the base attachment, the loaded end and the cable bend. The weighing structure must load the intended end without clamping the compliant section. Verify fastener engagement from the drawing; the small body does not justify selecting screws by overall sensor height.

75 mm beam, 1 mV/V nominal output and 1000 ohm bridge; plan the 0.2 m cable connection before installation.

Check small-load behaviour in the finished scale

Include the load receptor mass when selecting the nominal capacity and specify the smallest weight change to be detected. During acceptance, check repeated loading, unloading and the relevant load positions after the final cable connection is complete. The catalogue total-error entry is +/-0.05% FS; it does not state the resolution, legal division or production repeatability of the finished instrument.

Review MV-LC0221 when 2 mV/V output or lower capacity steps are needed, while allowing for its larger body and different ingress rating.

Reader and cable questions

Q1. Can I extend the cable to reach a distant indicator?

Agree the extension method and complete the final connection before calibration. A four-wire bridge does not provide separate remote excitation-sense leads, so added cable resistance can affect the measurement conditions. Include the route and terminal environment in the quotation review.

Q2. Is this model suitable for direct connection to a PLC?

Only when the PLC system includes a compatible bridge measurement module. The sensor does not directly provide 4-20 mA or RS485. Otherwise specify a weighing transmitter whose input accepts the 1 mV/V, 1000 ohm bridge.

Q3. What should be checked before substituting a larger single-point sensor?

Compare capacity, body envelope, hole pattern, cable route, sensitivity and bridge resistance. A smaller body can require new mounting parts and different reader settings; verify the completed scale rather than transferring the old calibration.
