METRAVON MV-LC0189 is an alloy-steel S-type load cell available at 500 kg, 1 t, 2 t and 5 t for tensile testing and suspended weighing. Each capacity has its own dimensional row. Selection should start with the force carried through the attachments and the available installation space, then confirm the required reader and cable connection.
Compare thickness as well as the S-type load cell thread
At 500 kg the A/B/C dimensions are 60/78/25 mm with M12 x 1.75 threads. The 1 t version is 60/86/50 mm and the 2 t version is 70/90/50 mm; both use M16 x 2. The 5 t version increases to 100/136/50 mm with M24 x 2. A shared thread on the 1 t and 2 t versions does not mean that height and width remain unchanged. Include all mating components when checking installed length and clearance.
| Item | Value | Selection notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rating choices | 500 kg, 1 t, 2 t, 5 t | Each option requires its corresponding dimensional row. |
| 500 kg / 1 t thickness C | 25 / 50 mm | Check the doubled thickness when moving to the 1 t version. |
| 1 t / 2 t connection | M16 x 2 | Body height and width still differ between these ratings. |
| 5 t connection | M24 x 2 | Review the adjoining parts for the larger installation. |
| Excitation supply | 4-12 V DC; maximum 15 V DC | Use a suitable strain-gauge measuring input. |
| Safe / ultimate overload | 150 / 300% FS | An overload limit is not an approved lifting capacity. |
| Working environment | -30 to +70 deg C; IP67 | Confirm protection of the added reader enclosure and joints. |
Keep the specified material and force path explicit
The documented construction is alloy steel with IP67 protection. Do not transfer a stainless-steel option from a neighbouring model. Describe the site environment, attachment orientation and any force peaks when requesting a review. Ensure the threaded connections carry the intended axial force and do not impose bending through a misaligned linkage; the body slots and side cable exit need clearance from the surrounding fixture.
Finish the 3 m cable route and calibrate the reader
A four-core 3 m cable is listed across 500 kg to 5 t. Rated sensitivity is 2.0 +/-0.002 mV/V, with input resistance of 385 +/-10 ohms and output resistance of 350 +/-2 ohms. Complete the actual wiring arrangement before establishing zero and span. Where the route needs additional length, specify the termination and extension arrangement for review instead of assuming that an arbitrary splice preserves the original measurement setup.

Agree the test for the complete suspended channel
The sensor total-error entry is +/-0.03% FS, and creep over 30 minutes is +/-0.03% FS. Neither represents a guaranteed result for every fixture and reader combination. Check reference forces at the working points, unloading and repeat loading after the connections have seated. For an old assembly, inspect worn threads, contact with adjacent parts and cable restraint before concluding that an unstable reading requires sensor replacement.
Changing capacity and checking measurement
Q1. Can 1 t be changed to 2 t without checking the assembly drawing?
Both versions use M16 x 2, but A and B change from 60/86 mm to 70/90 mm. Check the full envelope, installed length and adjoining component ratings. Increasing the sensor capacity alone does not increase the permitted load of the complete equipment.
Q2. Is the total-error figure the same as display resolution?
No. Display resolution is a property of the configured measuring channel, while the listed total-error entry describes sensor performance under its specified conditions. A display with more digits does not establish a smaller installed error. Verify the required load interval using suitable references.
Q3. What makes a replacement enquiry actionable?
Include the original capacity and calibration information, measured mounting dimensions, thread specification and attachment photographs. Add the indicator input details and how the system will be loaded for verification. This identifies both mechanical fit and measurement work rather than treating replacement as a nameplate-only decision.
