Product Details

METRAVON MV-LC0029 is a dual-contact column load cell with projecting compression ends above and below the main body. Its technical range is 10-500 t, but the body and contact dimensions are rating-dependent. For heavy vessel or platform weighing, decide which loaded contact arrangement is needed before considering a capacity increase. Two units can share an outside diameter and overall height while still requiring different end seats.

Separate body size from the dual-contact column load cell end size

The 10 and 20 t rows both give an 88 mm body diameter and 120 mm overall height. Their end-contact diameters are different: 22 mm at 10 t and 33 mm at 20 t. At 30 t the body and overall height become 112 and 140 mm, with a 40 mm end. This makes an outside-envelope check insufficient for replacement. The mating seats must be reviewed against both end contacts, including the approved surface form and any necessary movement. A nominal diameter is not a complete contact tolerance.

Check the new support gap when moving to a larger rating

The 50 t row shows diameter 138 mm, overall height 180 mm and end diameter 50 mm. At 100 t these are 164, 240 and 70 mm. The 200 and 300 t rows share a 215 mm body diameter but differ in overall height and end diameter; the 500 t row is larger again. Do not use a simple scale factor or interpolate an unlisted row when designing the supports. Ask for the offered rating and complete seat assembly height, with all retained parts identified.

Account for tare and unequal reactions without selecting an unnecessarily large range

For a vessel, list empty structure, maximum contents, attached equipment and any external forces that affect individual supports. For a platform, specify the loading positions and conditions that can concentrate force at one column. The largest reaction decides capacity, while the useful net increment helps judge whether that capacity can serve the measurement task. Reference precision is 0.05% FS. Choosing a much larger full scale solely to obtain more mechanical margin does not establish the same useful batch-weight response in the completed system.

Keep the electrical comparison independent of seat compatibility

The documented electrical channel is 2.0 +/-0.002 mV/V, excited at 10-12 V DC, with 400 +/-20 ohms input and 380 +/-5 ohms output resistance. A matching channel does not make a different end diameter mechanically interchangeable. Conversely, a sensor that fits the old seats still needs checking against the reader, support count and delivered wiring. Resolve the signal-polarity inconsistency in the reference with the supplied terminal record and a controlled loading-sign check. Specify an external transmitter if the controller needs 4-20 mA, RS485 or Modbus RTU rather than a bridge input.

Two-ended compression reference across 10-500 t. Equal body diameter or height at two ratings does not prove identical end contacts.

Inspect both contacts before accepting the final weighing system

After safe installation, inspect upper and lower seating, cable restraint and guides for unintended force transfer. Use agreed reference loads and compare repeated indications and return to empty under the actual connected arrangement. Temperature effect is listed as 0.02% FS per 10 deg C, distinct from the -40 to +85 deg C operating interval. Identify water exposure and alloy-steel or stainless-steel requirements when confirming IP68 for the supplied unit. Neither the double-ended form nor the 200% FS safe-load figure establishes an allowable side force, universal self-centring travel or dynamic rail-weighing performance.

Capacity changes and complete seat quotations

Q1. Can a 20 t unit replace a 10 t unit in the same space?

Their reference body diameter and overall height match, but the end-contact diameter changes from 22 to 33 mm. Check both seats and the required reaction before deciding. The matching outer envelope alone does not establish a complete replacement.

Q2. Is a higher capacity always preferable for a heavy vessel?

It must cover the largest credible support reaction, but the useful measurement interval also matters. Compare tare and net changes with the selected full-scale precision basis and the actual reader. Do not substitute a large safety margin for an installed weighing acceptance plan.

Q3. What should the offer include besides the sensor?

Identify the upper and lower seat parts, installed bearing height, material and exposure requirements, and any weighing conditioner needed by the controller. Mark retained components separately. That keeps a bare sensing body from being mistaken for a complete ready-to-install support.
