Guided-wave radar level transmitter price reflects much more than measuring range. The instrument sends microwave pulses along a rod, cable or coaxial probe, so probe construction and the process interface are central to both performance and cost. A short rod for a clean atmospheric tank is not comparable with a long cable requiring an anchor, a high-pressure flange, corrosion-resistant alloy or an interface-measurement configuration. Begin the RFQ with product dielectric properties, conductivity, density, temperature, pressure, vapour, foam and expected coating. Provide vessel height, nozzle, internals, measuring range and available installation access. State whether the duty is liquid level, solids level or interface and whether the probe can contact agitators or filling streams. Price may change with process connection, probe length, centring discs, weights, anchors, remote electronics, display, communication, hazardous-area certification and documentation. Installation and commissioning should be included in the evaluated cost: an unsuitable nozzle or incorrectly tensioned cable can make a cheaper device unusable. Compare all offers against one datasheet and require assumptions, exclusions and delivery scope to be stated. Approve the lowest technically compliant lifecycle cost, not an isolated instrument figure.

Define medium and measurement duty

State continuous level or interface, product dielectric range, conductivity, density, coating, foam and vapour for normal and abnormal states.

Give range, accuracy, response and alarm use. Interface measurement requires both liquids and a persistent dielectric contrast.

Select probe construction

Compare rod, cable and coaxial probes against vessel height, product, mechanics and cleaning. Include tensile load and abrasion for bulk solids.

Specify weights, anchors, centring discs and minimum clearances. Do not anchor a probe without accounting for vessel movement and structural force.

Fix the process connection

Provide nozzle diameter, length, orientation, flange or thread, pressure class and sealing requirements. Confirm all wetted materials.

Long or narrow nozzles may require probe and mounting changes. Special alloys, hygienic connections and pressure documentation affect price and lead time.

Specify electronics and approvals

Define power, 4–20 mA, HART or digital output, display, remote housing, cable entries and fault behaviour.

Require hazardous-area and other certification for the exact model code, temperature class, barrier method and installed location.

Level the commercial scope

List probe, connection, accessories, configuration tools, drawings, certificates, tests, packing, freight, warranty and commissioning support.

Ask each bidder to separate confirmed, assumed, excluded and optional items. Otherwise the quoted prices do not represent the same deliverable.

Plan installation and acceptance

Review nozzle, probe routing, cable tension, obstructions and access before release. Protect the probe during construction and cleaning.

Record reference levels, echo curve and configuration at commissioning. Test outputs and alarms through the receiving system and retain as-found evidence.
